The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday raided two government offices (immigration and foreign employment) based in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, arresting 35 officials on charges of corruption.
According to CIAA sources, the arrested officials include 18 from the Department of Immigration and 17 from the Department of Foreign Employment.
The immigration officials have been alleged of allowing Nepali foreign employment workers to leave the country in an unauthorized manner, while the Department of Foreign Employment officials were detained for granting illegal licenses to manpower companies.
The CIAA has already arrested six officials of the Department of Foreign Employment including its chief Ramesh Mainali on foreign employment related corruption.
