70 ex-Maoist combatants conferred insignia of NA officers

KATHMANDU, AUG 26 - Seventy former Maoist combatants have been conferred the insignia of Nepal Army officer-cadets (Lieutenant) rank on Monday.Those officer cadets were conferred amid a programme organised at Nepal Army Academy, Kharipati in Bhaktapur. Chairman of the Interim Election Government Khil Raj Regmi was the chief guest of the ceremony.

Chairman Regmi along with Chief of the Army Staff Gaurav Shumsher Rana jointly presented the insignia of the rank to the deserving candidates who had successfully completed the basic military trainings of nine months.
The new cadets will be given various positions following departmental bridging course of three months.

Meanwhile, former division commander Yam Bahadur Adhikari will be given the post of colonel while, vice-commanders Padam Lama and Bashudev Ghimire will be given the post of lieutenant colonels as per the earlier decision.
According to the NA , among them, 13 will be given the position of major, 30 Captain and 24 Lieutenant.ekantipur.com
